The popularity of the TV drama "Downton Abbey" has been astonishing. The programme follows the life of the fictional English "Crawley" family and their servants. I like the programme but I've not seen anyone doing anything creative. Would you have liked to live at "Downton Abbey" in the 20's? Would you have preferred to be an aristocrat or a servant? What aspects of the life would you have enjoyed and what would you have found hard to face?

Il y a une deuxième chance pour membres de mon blog. Si vous êtes déjà membre, ou vous devenez membre, laissez un deuxième commentaire pour le dire. Je serai heureuse de vous avoir à bord!

Downtown Abbey is gorgeous and the romantic side of me would love to live there, but I can't imagine having to follow all the social rules for women of that time. Having a splendidly elegant dinner made for me every night would be wonderful, but I wouldn't want to dress up every night. I think you're right about the creativity thing too. I think women just did needlework. Ugh.

I loved that show and miss it now that this season is over. I would not like to be servant during those times. The upper class had their own problems to deal with so I think I'll just stay in this time zone of my life.

I'm actually very happy living in the here and now - but if I had to choose, I'd live below stairs at Downton Abbey - at least I'd have some meaningful work to do! LOL

The aristocrat is afforded the time and fabric to Quilt but may not recognize the simple pleasures in life. I would prefer the pioneer life!

I've never watched this show so I can't comment.

I've only seen season 1, but I think I would have preferred being an aristocrat. Thanks for the chance to win!

I think it would have been hard to live at Downton Abbey in the 20's, but if I was there, I'd want to be an aristocrat They seemed to have fewer restrictions than the servants. I would have had time to do lots of quilting and stitching and pursue other creative endeavors, but I wouldn't have liked the tough expectations for marriage and keeping up appearances. That being said, I'd love to live there now :)

what a good question! I would have liked to be part of the upper crust. I wonder if I would have been a rule breaker or a rule maker? I will be thinking more about this . . .

I would have to say aristocrat as life was easier for them. Women however had limited freedom to follow their dreams so I would rather live now. Great giveaway.

Hi and thank you for sharing those ADORABLE fabrics! I enjoy wathcing Downton Abbey. I think in those times place/way I would like to live would be working (sewing, designing) their cloths and hats.

I am a huge fan of Downton Abby and they do needlework every once in a while. I don't know if I would live back then but if I did I would rather be a servant.

I love my modern conveniences too much to live in the world of Downton Abbey. I also like wearing pants too much. Can you imagine a world without yoga pants?! But luckily I live now and get to sew lots and lots.

Thanks for the chance to win the lovely fabric. You have a wonderful blog.

I think the only thing that I would like about living in the Downton Abbey era is the clothing (and having my meals prepared for me!) Thanks for the chance!

Perhaps each place in a society has it's challenges.. as long as I could find time to sew I would be quite content. Perhaps creating a lovely gown covered in beautiful beads and embroidery! Merci beaucoup:)grace55(at)hushmail(dot)com

I am so thankful I don't live in the 20's. Being a servant would a very hard life. Being an aristocrat would be tough as we can see by the Crawly family's difficulties

I haven't seen Downtown Abbey as it isn't on any of my tv channels... I don't think I'd like to live in the 20's as I don't like to be told what to do or follow what is preplanned for me. I like the equality of the modern century and the modern conveniences. Thanks for a chance to win this fantastic fabric! :)
